SYNOPSIS:
All Harry Potter wants is to get away from the Dursleys and go back to Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. But just as he’s packing his bags, Harry receives a warning from a strange, impish creature named Dobby – who says that if Harry Potter returns to Hogwarts, disaster will strike.
And strike it does. For in Harry’s second year at Hogwarts, fresh torments and horrors arise, including an outrageously stuck-up new professor, Gilderoy Lockheart, a spirit named Moaning Myrtle who haunts the girls’ bathroom, and the unwanted attentions of Ron Weasley’s younger sister, Ginny.
But each of these seem minor annoyances when the real trouble begins, and someone–or something–starts turning Hogwarts students to stone. Could it be Draco Malfoy, a more poisonous rival than ever? MY THOUGHTS:
Harry is on its second year and so am I! Like what I told you, whenever I read Harry Potter, I am in for a new adventure with them. Going back to the Dursleys was always a disaster, but on the first chapter of the book it was worse because Harry Potter haven’t received any letters for the summer he stayed at the Dursleys especially on his birthday. Nothing at all. And then this house elf dobby, a house elf appeared in his room.
Anyway, what I really love about the book is the new characters JK Rowling introduced, Dobby, Moaning Myrtle, Gilderoy Lockheart and there was a lot of Ginny parts there since she was already studying in Hogwarts. Dobby the house elf was really doing everything to save Harry but it always ends a disaster, I love to have my own house elf since they are very loyal to their masters. Moaning Myrtle is a ghost who haunts the girls’ bathroom, this book shows that not all ghosts are scary, and in the end of the book she had an affection for Harry. Professor Gilderoy Lockheart on the other hand was the new Defense against the dark arts professor, but all he wanted was fame, and at the end of the book he really didn’t experienced first-hand what is written in his book.
I love the making of the Polyjuice Potion and its effect. Becoming other people can be awesome once in a while and it can be handy too! Hagrid is really fond of taking care of different pets, who I’m talking about is Aragog, who everyone thought was the culprit of all the attacks in the Hogwarts. And the diary of Tom Riddle and Tom Riddle himself, who was the Heir of Slytherin and Voldemort was one, well Tom Riddle was him in the past.
I enjoyed reading this book, with all the revelations and happenings. In the end Harry knew that part of Voldemort was in him, that’s why he can speak to snakes (parseltongue) but it would always be our choices who makes us different.
