“My love for you is what keeps me human.”

A tragic tale about falling in love on the world’s most infamous ill-fated sea voyage as heroine, Tess, discovers darker secrets that lie beneath the doomed crossing… and a hidden brotherhood that threaten to tear her lover from her forever.

The RMS Titanic is the most luxurious ship ever built, but for eighteen-year-old Tess Davies it’s a prison. Travelling as a maid for the family she served for years, Tess is trapped in their employ amid painful memories and family secrets.

When she meets Alec, a handsome upper class passenger, Tess falls helplessly in love. But Alec has secrets of his own… and soon Tess is entangled in a dangerous game. A sinister brotherhood that will do anything to induct Alec into their mystical order has followed him on board. And Tess is now their most powerful pawn.

Tess and Alec fight the dark forces threatening to tear them apart, never realizing that they will have to face an even greater peril before the journey is over…

New York Times best-selling author Claudia Gray delivers adventure, dark paranormal suspense, alluring romance, and a truly surprise ending, set against the opulent backdrop of the Titanic’s first – and last – voyage.

The main reason why I bought this book is because Fateful was a retelling of the Titanic’s story combined with a unique paranormal twist. I never expect this story to be so good.

I really love the main character Tess, because she’s not just an ordinary servant girl whose contented with being a servant for the rest of her life, but rather, she’s the kind of girl that have her own dreams, where she’ll do whatever it cost just to achieve her dreams. She was never afraid of taking risks, and that risk changed her life forever.

I also love Alec. He is the character that every girl will fall for. He is the good guy who just wants a normal life, but he has this dark force inside of him that he is desperately trying to overcome and keep his humanity.

The love story in this book will make you cry. It’s not a rushed, instant love kind of romance, but a well thought out, well written one that develops throughout the course of the book. Alec and Tess made a lot of sacrifices just to protect each other and they really bring out the best in each other.

It was not just a love story, it was also about families. Alec and his father, how they protect each other from the brotherhood. The Lisle’s Family, where Lady Regina wants her daughter to be married by some noble man who’s also in the first class. Different perspectives and lives of each family in the Titanic. You really can imagine what it looks like to be in the Titanic, how the lower class were separated from the high class.

The ending was just perfect! I really don’t want to spoil you guys, it was really unexpected!! All in all I thought this was a great stand-alone experience that has a touch of everything. Historical, romance and paranormal.
